Flying Carpet Society respects your privacy and aims to collect only the information genuinely needed to consider requests and organise gatherings.
Who is responsible for your data
Flying Carpet Society is operated by Alexandra Rimpler-Schmid, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

What we collect
If you request a place, we may collect your name, email address, city or area, your answers to the request questions, the dates you are interested in, an optional referral source, and any other information you choose to include.
Please do not include sensitive personal information such as health information, religious or political beliefs, sexual orientation, or other information that is not necessary for us to consider your request. Dietary requirements or accessibility needs are collected separately when relevant to a confirmed gathering.
Why we use this information
We use your information to consider your request, understand which gatherings may be relevant for you, contact you about your request or suitable tables, and organise confirmed gatherings.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use request information for unrelated advertising.
Legal basis
We process the information you submit because you have asked us to consider your request and have consented to us using the information for that purpose. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.
How requests are reviewed
Requests are reviewed personally. Flying Carpet Society does not use automated decision-making or algorithmic profiling to decide how a table is composed.
Service providers
We use selected service providers to operate the website and manage requests and gatherings.
- Formspree processes request-form submissions on our behalf.
- Vercel hosts the Flying Carpet Society website.
- Luma may be used for individual event invitations, RSVPs and practical event information.
These providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers are made using recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
How long we keep information
Requests that do not lead to participation in a gathering are normally deleted within 12 months.
If you attend Flying Carpet gatherings, we may retain the basic information needed to organise relevant future gatherings for as long as it remains useful and appropriate. We review records periodically and delete information that is no longer necessary.
Information may be kept longer where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, receive certain information in a portable format, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes
We may update this privacy notice if the way Flying Carpet Society processes personal information changes. The current version will be available on this website.
